Untamed S.C. Stephens

The spotlight doesn’t only shine. Sometimes, it burns.

Being the bad-boy bassist for the world’s hottest band has earned Griffin Hancock some perks: a big house, a fast car, and most importantly his incredible wife, Anna. The one thing it hasn’t brought him is the spotlight. Anna tells him to be patient, but he’s tired of waiting. Griffin is no longer waiting for permission to shine.

Without warning, Griffin makes a shocking decision and takes the gamble of a lifetime. Suddenly he’s caught up in a new level of lights, cameras, and chaos. One that pushes his relationship with Anna to its limits. Just as the recognition Griffin seeks is finally within reach, the thing he loves most in life could be slipping through his fingers . . .

Apologies for the late reviews. My internet decided it no longer wanted to play and went on a two week holiday.

Holy Shite!

Griffin annoyed the hell out of me for the first half of the book. I wanted to hunt him down and give him a shake, But then something amazing happened. Griffin blossomed (I know blossomed and Griffin doesn’t really go together but…) in to a real man and my my my it was a sight to see. He had so many ups and downs I was getting whiplash.

“Nobody put Hulk in the corner. Nobody.”

I laughed a lot, Griffin is hysterical in a way I doubt he even realises.

What I never expected was for my heart to break for him. Griffin was never born to be ordinary.

The climb he has to do to get back to where he began was quite a twist, one I never expected, I had a slight feeling of the twist ended but then my heart grew a little bigger for all the guys.

We still get plenty of the regular characters too, I loved hearing from them but without them taking over the story line.

This is a solid 4.5 stars from me. The reason being is a found the start dragged a little and I found myself zoning out but once I hit 50% Griff had my full attention.

Expected publication: November 29th 2015

Sometimes us silly girls fantasize about things that never come to be. I had expectations after college—expectations to run off with Jake Larson and start our life together in a little Pennsylvania farm town. I had my happiness mapped out inside my head.

I didn’t expect to run into a strange, alluring man with a beard and dark hair stacked up on top of his head. I didn’t expect to be attracted to someone so—different. He was everything I didn’t know existed. He could make me feel things I’d never felt before. It didn’t seem possible that we could be together. We both had obligations. The world told us no, but we couldn’t stay away from one another, couldn’t deny that we were drawn together. He was so beautiful—so beautiful rugged. I was going to make him mine.

This book is a real diamond in the rough. I was immediately intrigued by the vague blurb and once I started reading was glad Sara didn’t give too much away.

This beautiful story follows Evanna and Gideon who are at a point in both their lives where they feel something is missing. For Evanna it’s a relationship that promised so much more than was given and for Gideon it’s the unsettling promise of a predicable life and a love without passion.

When Evanna and Gideon’s worlds collide, the attraction is instant albeit innocent but friendship soon turns to a irrevocable love that will have your heart sighing and rooting for the unlikely couple.

For their lives couldn’t be more different. Their beliefs a world apart, leading them into adversity and challenging them at every turn.

I found myself wanting to skip towards the end to find out what happens because there are various ways this could end but I refrained and I’m so glad I did. This book is a real pleasure to read I loved both of the characters as well as the supporting cast. In fact I am really hoping there is more to come from this couple because I felt the story warranted at least an extra novella, without giving too much away, I need to know what becomes of Timothy.

All in all I would highly recommend this book and look forward to reading other books from this author.

Playing Games

 Playing Games

Everyone has secrets. What would it take to make you whisper yours?
Louise had no interest in relationships until one night turned her whole world around.
Hold me down. Kiss me hard. Fuck me harder.
A stranger in a strange city, she wasn’t looking to lose control. Until she did.
Intensely. Irrevocably. Dangerously.
She handed herself over to him.
One night. His rules. No names.
But he had other plans.
She’s an enigma. Unfinished business. Potential. She’s what he wants. Again and again.
And though the last thing he wanted to do was hurt her, it was on his agenda somewhere. Because relationships are messy and painful.

It’s not all about Playing Games.

A one-night stand which becomes more! I was hooked right from the start to this new standalone from this author.I liked the character’s,amusing banter between both leads, other’s featured, sex scenes well written. It is a fairly quick read with an Epilogue which could possibly lead to more in the future!

Louise,a 26 year old American,in London for work purposes, has no interest in a relationship-that is until her encounter with Daniel(Dan)-a man who is used to getting what he wants, the way he wants, and in doing so,brings a hidden desire, something Louise didn’t think she wanted to the surface to be explored as the story develops.Add in to the mix an ex-wife,cute 6 year old son, hilarious friend/room-mate and secrets which of course come out, I did enjoy the story.

“Their eyes meet and for the briefest of moments, something recognisable was shared.Something that wasn’t just about sex or dominance, misunderstandings or hurt.Like meeting one half of the other;it was like finding a safe place”

This is a new author to me so I went in blind with no expectations and was pleased to
find I was instantly drawn into the story. Sophie is brought face to face with her childhood nemesis whom she always harboured feelings for. I did feel for her early on in the story as the need to dislike the man is high but almost impossible to achieve. He is so very annoying and in her face but in the moments where he drops his guard it’s hard not to be drawn in my his magnetism.
The supporting characters are strong too with the possibility of readers wishing to hear their stories but I loved Ashton’s grandmother in particular and I had a tear in my eye a few times thinking of my own.
There are no real surprises in this book and the reader is under no illusions where the story is going to go or who is behind certain plot twists but altogether this really is a lovely read. The writing flows and although I wanted to shake Sophie a few times and tell her not to be so nice and slap Ashton and get him to stop with the games and tell her already!!!!, I really loved this story and stayed up to silly o clock finishing it. I would definitely read more from this author and would happily recommend this book to friends.

 Irresistible Deceptions

Wary and suspicious, she’ll have to trust a stranger if she is to bring her illegal-arms-dealing ex-husband to justice once and for all. She’s not at all the woman he expected her to be. But Rhy has a dark secret he’s been keeping from her and everything is at risk if she finds out.

ARC received from Netgalley in exchange for honest review.

Nicky is on the run from her ex-husband who is hell bent on finding her and doesn’t care what lies he has to tell or who he has to hurt in the process.
Rhyder is the man hired to protect Nicky and her son but comes to her with some preconceived notions about her character and is somewhat cold towards her in the beginning.
Forced to spend time with her, Rhy soon realises Nicky is nothing like he imagined her to be and starts to question everything he has been told. Soon he is fighting the pull of the loyal, strong but vulnerable woman in his care.
Nicky, having been on the receiving end of his initial misconceptions, wants nothing to do with Rhyder McLean and is determined not give in to her overwhelming attraction to him.
This is an action packed, plays like a movie in your head adventure with some heart felt moments thrown in, for instance, the bond which grows between Rhy and Nicky’s son is beautiful, especially given Rhyder’s heartbreaking past and the chemistry between them is evident leading to some sizzling moments.
I found myself picking up my kindle at every available opportunity to get back into their world and find out what was going to happen and I will definitely be adding more of Mackenzie Crowne to my TBR.

Sex, Snow & Mistletoe (A Short Story)

This is a short, steamy read from one of my favourite author’s,and I hope we will get more from these character’s in the future!

Melinda’s on her way to a friend of a friend’s wedding and due to the snowy weather gets in an accident on her way.Enter the very handsome stranger who comes to her rescue, who it turns out,is on his way to the same wedding! One thing leads to another and..Hello…hotness in the back of his car!!.There is,as with all this author’s work an element of humour and I did find myself laughing out loud at the banter between them.

The morning after sees them reaching their destination, the identity of the stranger(has she actually slept with the Groom???!!) it really is a funny, hot, quick enjoyable read and I really hope to get more from them.(no pressure Laura…Honest!)

This surreal revelation is the beginning of a life-changing journey where Jason discovers his true self, while stumbling upon a whole new dark underworld.

WARNING: This book contains explicit scenes of consensual sex between men as well as some graphic language. It is intended for a mature, adult audience.

Jason's Fall

Jason’s Fall (The Rift Book 1)

This is the fourth book from this author I’ve read, and I think it has great potential-it is a quick read with a cliffhanger ending, but I eagerly await the next part!

As far as Paranormal reads go,I haven’t read a great deal, but I liked the idea of this,it is well written and adding the M/M element made it hotter and the scenes do well to reflect that.

Jason’s been dreaming of a mysterious stranger who takes him as never before-thus questioning Jason’s whole existence. When the fantasy becomes reality,it starts Jason on a journey to something he didn’t think possible.

“I was consumed by a lust I’d never experienced before and was in dire need of….of something I didn’t know exactly what, but I had an idea,a fleeting thought.I wouldn’t dare utter, although it was a battle I was quickly losing…”

There is something else coming, and again I was hooked and am interested to see where the story goes, hoping we do not have to wait for long to find out!

Tiger Lily: Part Three

*I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review*

This is the final instalment of the story following Lily and Jonas and it is most definitely the strongest of the three books. You can tell how Amelie’s writing has developed throughout the series and it is a pleasure to follow their story to it’s conclusion.

Lily is so much stronger in this book and it was sorely needed. We all love our sexy domineering book boyfriends but for it too work for me they must have a strong female companion who can give as good as she gets and hold her own, otherwise there is no balance in the relationship.

Thankfully, after everything Lily has been through we are finally starting to see her shine and this is no doubt due to Jonas’s love and care. Jonas continues to be the strong domineering man we have come to love but Lily is by no means a walk over and is determined to finally have all of the man she loves.

After all the obstacles they have been through can Jonas finally commit to Lily the way she needs and wants?

Do we finally see the back of the destructive and devious Declan?

My lips are sealed you will just have to read the book to find out!

Undressed: Billionaire Romance, Contemporary Romance (The Manhattanites Book 2)

This is the first book I have read by this Author so I went in completely blind to the drama and mayhem of the high society life.
Lex Easton is a successful fashion designer running her own label while managing to stay out of the limelight.
Prince Massimo Tittoni is her hot Italian fabric supplier who at the twilight hour refuses to fulfill her order. Forced to fly half way across the world to confront him, she soon finds that her order is not the only thing he is refusing to fulfill.
This is a great holiday read and you will find yourself either laughing out loud or fanning yourself down. Avery does not shy away from her sex scenes and they are hot, hot, hot.
I really loved the male lead, the Prince is handsome as hell, loaded and Royalty, he also doesn’t suffer fools gladly and knows what he wants, what’s not to like?. I did, however, find it hard to warm to Lex, I understand that Manhattanites are outspoken go-getters but at times I did wonder what it was about her that the Prince found so alluring.
Thankfully, this book is told through dual point of view and it was this element that kept me reading to the end. If I’d had to stay in Lex’s head for the entire book I might not have continued.
In saying that, I did enjoy the concept of the story and the supporting characters are strong enough to carry their own, particularly Jemma who I am looking forward to finding out more about.

Unsaid: MM Romance (The Manhattanites Book 3)

Firstly, I was assured this novel could be read as a standalone, however, it is not solely about Blake and Miguel so I would advise reading the previous books in the series first so you have an idea of the back story. If you just want to immerse yourself in the main characters only, this would involve skipping certain chapters which would be a real shame.
I have to say I was looking forward to this instalment from the Manhattanites and I was not disappointed. Blake and Miguel have been friends for many years but Miguel still feels the bitter sting of the rejection he received from Blake all those years before, the reason for this is he is still very much in love with him.
When Blakes life begins to unravel, his friends decide that Miguel is just what he needs in his voyage of self-discovery. Miguel would love nothing more than to help his friend but is he willing to risk his heart in the process?
Blake wants Miguel but he is harbouring a secret and is terrified that if Miguel finds out, he will lose him forever, just as they are starting to open up to each other.
At the heart of this story is the real consensus that we all just want to be loved, no matter our sexual orientation or gender and the reader will be compelled to read to the end to make sure Blake and Miguel get their HEA. This book does, however, touch on some serious issues. I do understand reading some other reviews that some have wished this topic was not brushed over and delved into in more detail and I can understand that but personally I think the author did well in highlighting a taboo subject but in keeping with her style of writing. Avery writes sexy stories with a large amount of humour thrown in and I think to give more detail would have changed the tone of the whole book. In saying that Avery does not shy away from her sex scenes so if this is your first m/m read you are sure to have your eyes opened! This book is not for the faint-hearted or easily offended.
In amongst the passion and heart ache, the rest of the characters are back bringing their usual doze of drama, mayhem and humour we have come to expect.
All in all, I would recommend this book and I look forward to reading the rest in the Manhattanites series.
