A paramedic must face old wounds when his Hollywood heartthrob ex returns home and tries to win back his affections. Will he find closure or will he give first love a second chance?

Coming back to Tahoe was a mistake. At least, that’s what Carson Keaton thinks the minute he returns to his hometown. When he ran away five years ago, he left everything behind, including Brand West, the only person he ever loved. Not that he had a choice. But now that the danger has passed, he returns home to reclaim Brand. The biggest question is, is it too late?

Brand West is a paramedic with a broken heart. Just after high school graduation, the love of his life hopped a Greyhound to Hollywood, leaving without explanation. Now, five years later, Brand is determined to forget about Carson by throwing himself into his career, his community, and—thanks to his best friend playing matchmaker—a hot new lover. But now Carson’s back in town, as irresistible as ever, leaving Brand with two choices: find closure and move on, or give first love a second chance.

The past never stays buried…
A month has passed since the Eve Murders and my Awakening that cost me my sight. While I have learned to use the Astral Sight as my guide around the world, I am still reeling from the traumatic events of the battle between Obsidian Moon’s Crymsen Crescent and the Ragnar Circle.
While we have Regina Reuel, the figurative head of the Circle, in custody, there are still many unanswered questions about the Circle’s motives. I have finally returned to the field as an active member of the Crymsen Crescent thanks to physical therapy with my mate Arawn Grey and my captain, the dragon prince, Casimir Lorcan.
But the peace in Paradise Grove doesn’t last long as hellhounds are going missing and turning up as charred corpses in Southside. Although this district has always been a dangerous part of town, the amount of violence is not only worrisome but familiar as a copy-cat revives the Wolf of Eden, the monster of Paradise Grove.
The second installment of the Crymsen Crescent Trilogy, A Roar of Flames, will have you turning the pages to solve pieces of Luce’s past.

Bloody footprints trailed behind her as her feet smacked the concrete and reverberated off the black steel walls. Her orange eyes glittered with tears as she slammed against the heavy door that led to freedom. Ashlyn’s breathless sobs, absorbed by the desperate pleas and harsh growls, sounded weak even to her ears as she stumbled past the line of obsidian cages. The other prisoners pressed their faces against the jet black bars. The madman who had taken them off the streets with promises of food and water—a place to rest—forced them into purgatory instead. She ran past them. Not looking back as they cried out her name. She didn’t have time to break them out, didn’t have time to save them from a fate worse than death. The leather straps from the metal chair he tied her to dangled from her bloody wrists as she slid around a corner, her feet freezing and numb. Almost there. She was close to freedom. Her legs burned as she took the steps two at a time, but the door was right there, and she only needed to reach out her hand—“Ah, ah,” a devilishly sweet voice sounded in her ear seconds before a hand tangled in her sable curls and yanked. Screaming, her hands instinctively reached up to fight the fist that threatened to rip her hair from the scalp. “You should know better than to run. It only increases the bloodlust.”Ashlyn whimpered, her nails leaving deep cuts on his wrists and hands, but he refused to let go, even as his blood filtered through the air. “Shall we try again?” His sinister laughter didn’t match the cherubic features or the delicate baby blue eyes that looked down at her with hatred. “No, no, please.” Ashlyn’s tears streaked down her dirty cheeks. She reached for her kernel of magic and begged for it to come to her aid, for the blistering heat of her fire to roast this insane bastard before he could kill her, but an obsidian wall blocked her magic. Blocked it and sealed it away. Dragged by her torturer, she could only whimper as her thoughts turned to her baby brother. She would never keep her promise to him, never see him graduate high school, never see him off to college, never see him marry.  Her warden whistled a cheery tune as if he wasn’t about to feed her to a monster that devoured its victims whole—magic and flesh and bone. She kicked her legs and raked her nails down his arms in a vain attempt to free herself, one last chance to break free and see her brother again. To tell him she was sorry, and she tried to be there. No matter how she tried, no matter how she struggled, his grip only tightened, and his indifference to pain only infuriated and filled her with despair at the same time. The same cell mates who watched her flee turned their faces away from her as he dragged her past them.  It was her turn to face the gods’ trial by fire.
